Continuing on with the leaf theme I had to make patterns using my leaf stencil. Here are a couple of patterns made by repeating the leaf shape. They are quite tightly packed linear designs. I tried some radial patterns as on the right: The pattern on the bottom right reminded me of [...] I’ve been making stencils from leaves this weekend. As it’s the middle of winter there aren’t many leaves about. Walking past the tree in the garden into the house I noticed that the ivy had started growing up the trunk and that some of the leaves were quite large: I chose one large [...] This afternoon after going out to get some exercise I did my next exercise for the C&G course. I try to do at least one exercise each week. Sometimes the inner pigdog (nice German expression “innerer Schweinehund”) meaning one’s own intrinsic laziness takes a bit of overcoming, today being one of those days. But [...] I finished the needlepoint cushion over Christmas. As I never use a frame to do my needlepoint it was a bit skew-whiff so I had to block it. My wooden frame for silk painting was very useful for that. It isn’t a perfect square but it’s a whole lot better than before I blocked [...] Having a few days off after Christmas gave me some time to get on with the activities exploring line. I’m putting up a selection here of the most interesting results. These first two were made using soft pastels and masking tape or torn paper as a template. It was a nice messy exercise which [...] Well as promised here are some of the results of my printing at the weekend. First 2 pages from my sketchbook with acrylic paint printing. These are the results after I worked out the correct amount of paint to use. And then the results with dye paste printed on fabric. Painting has never been anything that I’ve felt particularly drawn too. I remember that I enjoyed collage work much more in the art classes at grammar school. And at primary school my favorite type of painting was splatter painting So this C&G [...] I like to have some sort of needlework to do in the evenings. Something you can pick up and put down again. Something you can do in front of the telly. It’s usually knitting. Winter time is knitting time for me. But one of my old patchwork cushion covers is showing the passing of [...] |
