These are the results of the latest round of dyeing. The image here may be a little dark. They really aren’t as dark as I would like. But I feel I am going round in circles now with the overdyeing and not achieving any better results for all the time and effort I [...] Well the overdyeing didn’t do quite what I expected. Just a wee bit of overkill perhaps? From left to right: A piece of red/brown fabric that I had overdyed with blue. Too green. The second darkest brown from the last post overdyed with blue. Too blue. The darkest brown from the last post [...] Today I can show you the rest of my dyeing results. Here is the blue-green gradation, which will be fine for my next piece. The brown gradation didn’t come out nearly dark enough. I shall have a go at overdyeing at least the two darker ones and some other bits of red-brown fabric [...] We’ve been getting in too late to take photos of the dyeing efforts. Until today. The light held out long enough to get a shot of the golden yellow gradation that I did at the weekend. Still to come the blue green and the browns that went pink on [...] The experiment has ended. I was quite disappointed to see all my lovely pink disappear, although some magic happened too and some nice yellows appeared. Here are the final results. It’s less hassle than dyeing with Procion dyes because you can do it all the kitchen. No nasty chemicals involved. We were given the choice of two mordants to try to fix the results – either white vinegar or [...] Thursday was a public holiday here and it was miserable weather – grey and wet in the afternoon.
