My next assignment for an assessment item is to make an accessory. I’ve decided to make a folding purse. It will be continuing my theme of folding. The idea came to me as I looked at the examples in the course notes. One of them reminded me of a little folding coin purse that [...] The pillowcase quilt is now finished. It is 23 inches square. I quite enjoyed doing the free motion machine quilting this time. I must be getting better as I didn’t clench my teeth all the time When I discovered as I was almost finished that I had forgotten to put the feed dogs down [...] This little quilt is taking longer than I expected. I have used almost the entire pillowcase in making the quilt top. There are only a few scraps of the crochet edging and a small piece of the fabric left. I’ve decided to use an old pillowcase, which probably belonged to my Grandma. When we were emptying my Dad’s flat last summer I brought back [...] The latest activities for the C&G course were fabric painting. For some reason I only have 2 colours of fabric paint – cobalt blue and lemon yellow – so my colour palette was rather limited. However I think the results are worth looking at. Yesterday I sewed on the last snap fastener and was sick to the back teeth of it. I worked out that it had taken me 24.5 hours to make, including fighting with my sewing machine which refused to sew buttonholes on the darned thing [...] Today was a miserable good and grey day. A good enough reason to not venture out of the house but stay in and make more progress.
