The experiment has ended. I was quite disappointed to see all my lovely pink disappear, although some magic happened too and some nice yellows appeared. Here are the final results.
First all laid out in a row:

And now the comparisons. V on the sample was fixed with vinegar, A on the sample was fixed with alum. Odd numbers had 15 mins and even number 60 mins lolling in the mugs. This image from top to bottom – Lady Grey, English Breakfast, Mallow:

From top to bottom – Peppermint, Camomile, Forest Berries:

From top to bottom – Rosehip with hibiscus, Rooibos with vanilla:

Some nice muted colours – the yellows were quite a surprise. I was expecting the pinks to go purpley grey with the alum, but I wasn’t expecting the pink to fade away so drastically. Maybe my vinegar was too concentrated – will have to ask Marjie what she thinks.
Thanks for sharing your results, Ruth. It’s fascinating!
