I read this on the BBC website today: Knitting can delay memory loss
It also says
engaging in a hobby like reading a book, making a patchwork quilt or even playing computer games can delay the onset of dementia, a US study suggests.
Watching TV however does not count – and indeed spending significant periods of time in front of the box may speed up memory loss, researchers found.
So that’s ok then:
knitting
making quilts
reading a book
watching TV for less than 7(!) hours a day
It looks like I’m all set up to prolong the active life of my grey cells.
As we are also learning Spanish, which is definitely
exercising and challenging
my brain, it seems I’m doing all the right things. Isn’t it nice to know that there are added benefits to all these activities apart from having fun?
