Cathedral Windows

Here I am posting from our hotel in Girona in Spain. Although I did see some brightly coloured stained glass windows in the church in Pals today that’s not what I’m going to be posting about. I have just finished a sample piece of Cathedral Windows Patchwork for my C&G’s course. I brought all the materials away with me as we are travelling by car, so there was room for my small knitting bag. It has needlepoint and fabric in it this time though :-)

So this is what I’ve been doing in the hotel bedrooms in the evenings. We’ve been unable to get out and do much walking around the towns because Sqeze has a bad right ankle, which flared up the day before we left. He is hobbling around and moving very slowly. I have to keep waiting for him to catch up, which is an entirely new experience. It’s usually me running to keep up.

Anyway here unpressed and taken with the last daylight coming in through our window:

    This is lovely Ruth.
I really like your combination of colours and solids and prints and background print . I enjoyed doing some Cathedral windows way back in the day, kept them and all these years later, have had fun using them jazzed up one way or another, in more modern self – expressive ways .
Have a wonderful time in Spain . Linda

  • Thanks Linda. I’ve had the instructions for Cathedral windows for years too – but never got round to doing any until it came up as an activity on this course. It is a neat effect but uses quite a lot of fabric and is quite time consuming to do. But I have the time at the moment!
I seem to remember that you used some of your CW in one of your pieces for our SE class with Myrna didn’t you?
The weather has improved now here – 30 deg C, sun, blue skies – more like it for holidays – although Spain needs the water of course.

  • [...] It is forcing me to try out things that I’ve just collected articles on in the past: see my cathedral windows piece. I even paid to do a course at QU on crazy patchwork and then never got started. It’s [...]
